Elm Class

Year 4 Staff (ID 1198)

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to our Elm class page!

Mrs Hegenbarth and I feel extremely privileged to be on an amazing learning journey with you and your children this year and feel excited about all the new adventures that lie before us this year!

This year, our aim is for the children to become immersed in all areas of learning and to recognise that our class is a 'safe space' where mistakes are all part of our learning process.  In Elm class, we like to achieve our full potential whilst having lots of fun in class (I especially enjoy a song!)  We will also enjoy quizzes on 'Blooket' that help us retain our 'Sticky knowledge' in all subject areas, whether we are being historians or mathematicians!

Nationally, in June, all children who are Year 4 age, take part in a 'Multiplication Times Table check'.  This tests the children on their knowledge of the times tables (up to 12 x 12) through an online test which the children complete on iPads.  The children have 6 seconds to answer each of the 25 questions.  At Greenford, we are very fortunate to use the online platform 'Time Table Rockstars'.

I really look forward to our amazing adventures over this year that will help prepare your children for the future that awaits them...dream big Elm class!

Mrs Critchell

Our enquiry this term links to sustainability.  Your extended home learning challenge is to consider the question: How can my life at home be more sustainable?  In collaboration with adults at home, as a family, use the document below to survey the areas of biodiversity; energy; global citizenship; healthy living; litter; marine; home environment; transport; waste and water.  Based on this information, you could then think about what you can do as a family at home to make a difference.   The aim is for this to be completed digitally (to save paper.)  If you would like to share your results with us in class and your ideas that you may try at home, you can download the document and then once completed, save as a PDF and then send to the school office.  Alternatively, your child can just talk about what you found out as a family whilst completing this task.
