Eco-Friendly Greenford
Welcome to our digital Eco-board!
At Greenford School, we care deeply about environmental issues and have a strong desire to actively protect our planet.
We have previously obtained the Eco-School award with merit and are now focusing on areas to improve our school linked to our Climate Action Plan.

Eco-Friendly stationary for all classes
Greenford school set a target of trying to source eco-friendly and sustainable stationary items for all classes in order to lower our carbon footprint. Amazingly, by January 2026, we managed to achieve this dream with sponsorships from local businesses. A huge thank you to Craddock Renewables Ltd, Wallis Agency graphic design studio, Amber Hardware and a very kind anonymous donator who made this possible! (see below for full details of thanks for our stationary)
Litter-free Greenford
In order to fulfil our dream of ensuring Greenford is litter-free, we also required new litter-picking equipment. Our huge thanks goes to an anonymous donator who again made this possible. We will be using this equipment in our local environment of Maiden Newton, as well as within our school grounds.
Recycling all food waste
To ensure all our food waste is being recycled, each class now has their own food waste caddy bin to dispose of their fruit and vegetable snack waste, as well as the staff room and lunch hall for any lunchtime food waste. We have noticed a huge increase in the amount of food waste we are now recycling.
Activities to reduce Climate Anxiety
Throughout this year, the children will get the chance to participate in various workshops run by outside agencies in order to teach about the natural world, discuss what we can do to 'make a difference' and to reduce Climate anxiety. More details about these events to follow...
Our Eco-Monitors (2025-6) and Eco-Code
2025-6 Eco-monitors with some of the sponsored stationary

A huge thank you to our Eco-Stationary Sponsors!
We are all extremely grateful to these local businesses for sponsoring our eco-friendly and sustainable stationary for all classes at Greenford school and we also give our thanks to our anonymous donor for their donation.

Our previous Eco-Schools Action Plan - 2024-5
After conducting our school environmental survey in 2024, the Eco-School committee members worked together to create the action plan for that year.
At Greenford, we now elect energy monitors for each classroom (to ensure we turn off un-used electrical appliances when we are not in our classrooms), we had a whole school focus on 'Water day' to raise awareness about saving water and marine plastic pollution. This involved having workshops from our local water supplier, Wessex water, and an online zoom session from the charity Wateraid. During our 'Water day' we also raised an amazing £242.24 to send to Wateraid! Many families have also taken part in beach cleans - one resulted in a child writing a letter to our local MP and petition asking for bins that can be used to recycle plastic to be available at our local beaches!
Greenford's Eco-School Action Plan
After a suggestion in our school, 'Suggestion Box', we are now trying to use more Fair trade produce in school.
